Expanding Business Opportunities and New Orders with Optical Communication Solutions for the Naval and Submarine Sectors
FOSTEC participated in the 2026 International Naval & Maritime Technology Conference, where the company introduced its optical communication solutions for naval and maritime applications to representatives from major Korean defense organizations and defense companies, while discussing potential technical and business cooperation.
During the conference, FOSTEC’s booth was visited by 17 companies, as well as representatives from major defense organizations including the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), Agency for Defense Development (ADD), and Defense Agency for Technology and Quality (DTaQ). FOSTEC actively promoted the standardization of optical connectors and their potential applications across various naval and maritime defense fields.
In particular, there was strong interest in optical communication technologies designed for extreme environments such as vacuum, deep-sea, and radiation exposure, along with requests for new technologies and applications. This demonstrated the potential of FOSTEC’s optical communication solutions to provide reliable communication performance in demanding environments, including naval vessels and submarines.
FOSTEC also established a new business partnership during the conference and secured an order for optical cable to be applied to the propulsion system of a prototype nuclear-powered submarine scheduled for 2027. Building on this achievement, FOSTEC plans to continue strengthening cooperation and expanding the application of optical cables and optical connectors in the naval and submarine sectors.
Through its participation in the conference, FOSTEC confirmed strong market interest and diverse technical requirements for high-reliability optical communication solutions in the naval defense sector, while establishing a foundation for expanding new business opportunities in naval vessels, submarines, and other specialized defense systems.
Going forward, FOSTEC will continue to develop optical communication solutions optimized for extreme environments and strengthen cooperation with customers and industry partners, while expanding its business presence in the Korean naval and defense markets, particularly in the naval vessel and submarine sectors.
